Old Gadgets Absorbed by Our Smartphones

Internet Technology

We are so used to having the wealth of the world in our back-pocket smartphone, we almost forgot how many things it made obsolete! Take these three items for example:

GPS Devices

Once upon a time, GPS devices for your cars were seen as cutting edge technology. People were overjoyed about not having to read paper maps ever again. Those devices are now no more than an old piece of equipment.

Just like other technological developments and gadgets, this device made its way into our smartphones. With multiple navigation apps such as Google Maps or Waze, there’s no reason for you to have a separate device to tell you to turn left at the roundabout.

Digital Cameras

This piece of technology used to be all the rage but is now owned by almost no one. Once the best way to preserve the memories from your trip to Thailand, now it does nothing more than rust in that drawer you never open.

Modern smartphones can take great quality pictures. Plus, you can also instantly share those snaps with your family and friends, and upload them to an online cloud account so you never lose them.

Alarm Clocks

Waking up early for school or for work is one of the toughest things we do on a daily basis. That might be why we dislike the sound of an alarm clock so much. Well, used to dislike it, anyway. No, getting up in the morning is not miraculously easier, it’s just that we don’t use a separate device for it anymore.

This annoying little gizmo has also found its way into our phones. Now we can choose a nice song we want to wake up to, or even use an alarm app. Some of those are pretty clever and can track your sleeping patterns in order to wake you up at the best time.
